Mrs. Lloyd (Bertha) Chambers, 96, died Friday, July 14, at Crowell Memorial Home in Blair. Services and interment will be private.

Bertha Moore was born in Blair on January 31, 1893. She married Lloyd C. Chambers, a long time City of Blair employee, in 1917.

In their later years, Mr. and Mrs. Chambers traveled frequently to Europe and to the Middle and Far East. They were received in private audiences by the then Pope John XXIII on the occasion of their golden wedding anniversary.

After the death of her husband in 1968, Mrs. Chambers spent most winters in Hong Kong or Saudi Arabia. She traveled four times around the world while still in her eighties. She maintained a diary covering some of her travels, excerpts from which were published serially in the Pilot-Tribune at that time.

Mrs. Chambers has resided at the Crowell Home since 1986.

She is survived by one son, Bill, presently of Blair and a niece, Mrs. Keith Patton of Newbury Park, California.
