Funeral services for Delmar Champ, 70, of Blair, who died at Crowell Memorial Home February 2, 1990, were held Monday, February 5 at the First United Methodist Church in Blair with Dr. Howard Bailey officiating. Burial was in the Blair Cemetery with military services conducted by the Kennard American Legion.

Delmar W. Champ was born on December 10, 1919 at Diller Nebraska to George and Anna Thieman Champ. He received his elementary education in rural Diller, and graduated from Diller High School.

In 1942, he entered the Army and served in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He was discharged in November, 1945. Upon his return from the service, he farmed with his father in the Diller area.

On September 16, 1947 he married Irene Greider at Fairbury, Nebraska. They farmed in Diller, until 1960 at which time they moved to the Blair area. He was employed with Dugdale Construction until 1980, at which time ill health forced his retirement.

Delmar is survived by his wife, Irene, six daughters, Susan Gerdes, Blair; Jean Voightlander, Pawnee City, Nebraska; Penny Champ, Kent, Washington; Connie Barnes, Spring Arbor, Michigan; Amy Champ Young, Boise, Idaho; Teresa Champ, Omaha, Nebraska; six grandchildren; three sisters, Idola Champ and Elaine Champ both of Wymore, Nebraska, and Orma Hahn, DeWitt, Nebraska; and one brother, Marion “Pete” Champ of Bennington, Nebraska.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
