Waldo “Dugan” Shamburg, 90

Services for Waldo “Dugan” Shamburg, age 90 of Herman who died November 12, 1993 at the Memorial Community Hospital will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, November 16 at the Herman Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Herman Cemetery.

Waldo Shamburg was born April 24, 1909 in Tekamah, Nebraska to Jerome and Irma Peck Shamburg. He graduated from Tekamah High School in 1922.

On July 18, 1935 he married Jessie Skinner in Tekamah.

He worked for the Cornish Auto Company, Burt and Washington County Drainage District as a dragline operator for 10 years, Woods Brothers Construction on the river and helped build the World War II defense plants at Fr. Crook and Meade. He later worked on the Alcan Highway in 1943 and 1944.

He had resided on his farm west of Herman since moving there in 1943.

He was a member of the Farm Bureau, Herman Methodist Church and a past 4-H leader. He also was a motorcycle enthusiast in his younger years.

Preceding him in death were his wife, Jessie, and brothers, Kenneth and Jack Shamburg.

He is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law: John and William and Alice, all of Herman; three grandchildren: Daniel Shamberg, Sam Shamburg and Ray Shamburg of Herman and two brothers, Norman of Tekamah and Dean of Tacoma, Washington.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
