Funeral services were held at White River, South Dakota for Violet Chapin. Mrs. Chapin died June 20, 1983 of complications from surgery for an aneurysm.

Violet Decker was born January 16, 1910 near Elk City, Nebraska. She was graduated from Arlington High School in 1928. She attended Wayne State Teachers College at Wayne, Nebraska, and taught in South Dakota s

chools many years. She married Donald Chapin of White River, South Dakota.

She was preceded in death by her parents Mr. and Mrs. Roy Decker, her husband, and son Duane. The son Duane was accidentally killed by a tractor January 18, 1983.

Two daughters survive: Mrs. Roy Gilliland and Mrs. Larry Daywitt. Also five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and four brothers.
