Clarion V. Chapman, 81, of rural Herman, died Friday, July 11, 2008, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Blair. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 16, at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Home Chapel.

Clarion V. “Chip” Chapman was born July 2, 1927, in Seneca, Ill., to Charles and Bernice (Kummer) Chapman. He was a graduate of Seneca Township High School and a lifelong farmer. He was active on the community school boards for several years. He was a 4-H leader in Lasalle County for 25 years. He was also a member of the Illinois Valley Horseman’s Club. He moved to Herman in 1999.

He is survived by his five children and their spouses, Bill and Jody Chapman of Seneca, Ill., Don Chapman of Mareseilles, Ill., Mike and Rita Chapman of Wilmington, Ill., LuAnn and Dennis Love of Bonfield, Ill., and John Chapman of Blair; 15 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a brother and sister-in-law, Bernie and Marcia Chapman of Earlville, Ill.

He was preceded in death by his wife, LuEtta; daughter-in-law, Patty; and great-granddaughter Dylan.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
