Funeral services were held at the Baptist Church here Tuesday afternoon for Wm. Chapman aged 57, who passed away Saturday night at the Elzy King home west of here. Deceased was employed by Mr. King as a farm hand. He has been in poor health lately, suffering from stomach trouble and high blood pressure. He went to Blair Saturday forenoon where he had several teeth extracted. Returning here, he was in town during the afternoon passing the time with friends. He retired at the usual. He has been in the habit of getting up later and smoking and when Mr. King and family returned from town that evening between ten and eleven they heard him in his room as usual. He was always up early even on a Sunday morning and when he did not appear Mrs. King called several times and later went to his room where he lay as if fast asleep.

He is survived by one son, Jasper Chapman of Tekamah. He was raised by John Elliot of Tekamah and has worked in and around Herman and Tekamah for years. Burial was made in the Tekamah Cemetery.
