Everett Leroy McKercher, 74, of Tekamah, died December 7, 1987, at the Memorial Community Hospital in Blair, after a brief illness.

He was born on April 14, 1913, at Fort Calhoun to George and Mabel McKercher.

Everett was married to Jennie Saltzman on July 1, 1946.

The couple lived in Omaha for several years, until moving to Tekamah about 10 years ago.

Everett was a smelter by trade, employed by American Smelter.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Jennie McKercher of Tekamah; one brother, Clifford McKercher of Omaha; seven sisters; Helen Burbee, Hazel Horan, and Mary Evans, all of Omaha, Evelyn Schunan of Gering, Gladys Clark of Sugar Creek, Missouri, Myrtle Rageale of Yuma, Arizona, and Dorothy Gann of Oregon; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held December 11, 1987, at the Hamel & Peck Funeral Chapel in Tekamah with Rev. Thomas E. Robson officiating.

Interment was in the Tekamah Cemetery.

Arrangements were handled by the Hamel & Peck Funeral Home in Tekamah.
