GEORGE PICKELL BURIED THURSDAY

George Pickell, 94 years of age, died at his home on West Washington Street on Tuesday at 5 p.m. He had fallen while doing some work about the house on Sunday morning, which was the cause of his death.

Deceased was born in Virginia in March of 1851 where he grew to manhood. He came to Blair something like 65 years ago. In 1882 he was married to Luella Short, and to them three children were born, George of Chicago; Mary, who is teaching in St. Paul, Minnesota; and Mrs. Dale Pollard of Alliance, Nebraska.

In his earlier years Mr. Pickell learned the carpenter trade, and all his life he followed it. He was a man of energy and had many friends who admired him for his sterling qualities. During his later years his health was not too good, but his mental faculties were keen, and he enjoyed his friends and the doings of the time.

He is the last of his family, so that the wife and children and six grandchildren are all that are left to mourn his death.

Funeral services are being held this Thursday afternoon from the Bendorf Funeral home with Rev. D. D. Kennedy officiating, and interment to be made in the Blair cemetery.
