Hubert T. "Pete" Petersen, 96, of Fremont died Monday, March 17, 2014, at Nye Legacy in Fremont.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 21, at Peace Lutheran Church (east of the bypass at E. Highway 30 & County Rd. 26 - 2102 N. County Rd. 26.) Interment will be in the Blair Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Ludvigsen Mortuary with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m.

Hubert T. "Pete" Petersen was born to Alfred and Clara (Petersen) Petersen on Dec. 6, 1917, in Herman, and grew up on the farm there.

In his younger years, he went to Brush, Colo., where he attended school, followed by attending an aviation school in Baltimore, Md.

In 1942, he enlisted in the Army Air Corps where he was an aircraft mechanic. He saw duty in India and China, and was discharged in 1946 as a technical sergeant.

Following his military service, he moved to Fremont and went to work in the auto body shop of Adams Motors. Then he was employed in the body shop of Nick Neff Motors, and in 1959, he opened his own Petersen Body Shop.He retired in 1992.

He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church.

On Jan. 16, 1943, he was married in Blair to Eulella Schjodt. This past January 16 was their 71st anniversary.

He is survived by his wife, Eulella “Lou”; two daughters: Mary Kay and husband Dennis Hennings of Omaha and Sharon and husband Wayne Francis of Fremont; two sons: Richard and wife Linda Petersen of Omaha andDavid and wife Kelli Petersen of Omaha; 11 grandchildren: Chris and wife Jaimie Petersen, Mike Petersen, Tyler Petersen, Tracy and husband Shawn Gillespie, Jaimee and husband Bret Martin, Jennifer and husband Edd Baye, Jeff and wife Kirsten Hennings, Jeremy and wife Jill Francis, Tim and wife Amber Francis, Katie and husband Oscar Duran and Trevor Petersen; and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Arnold; and two sisters, Elna and Violet.

Memorials are suggested to Peace Lutheran Church.
