James W. Anderson, 74, of Tekamah, died Sunday, June 1, 2008, at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair.

A memorial service was held Wednesday, June 4, at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Tekamah. Interment was in the Tekamah Cemetery.

James W. Anderson was born Dec. 1, 1933, in Tekamah to Waltmun and Merle (Crannell) Anderson.

He attended Crawford Country School and graduated from Tekamah High School in 1951. He attended Nebraska Trade School in Milford. In 1956, he entered the U.S. Army, and was stationed at Fort Ord, Calif., and in Germany.

On Sept. 17, 1960, he married Carole Hansen at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Tekamah. They lived on a farm south of Tekamah throughout their marriage.

Mr. Anderson was engaged in farming and was currently employed by Woodhouse Auto Family. He was a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Tekamah.

He is survived by his wife, Carole, of Tekamah; sons and daughters-in-law, Brian and Kellie Anderson of North Platte; Scott and Tonnia Anderson of Princeton; and Paul and Judy Anderson of Tekamah; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Joan Anderson of Tekamah; nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorials are suggested to Emmanuel Lutheran Church or the Tekamah Rescue Squad.

Pelan Funeral Home in Tekamah was in charge of arrangements.
