A. E. DIXON DIED HERE SATURDAY

HAD BEEN RESIDENT OF THIS COUNTY FOR 74 YEARS

A. E. Dixon, well known farmer and stockman, passed away at his home on west Washington street last Saturday. He was 84 years old. Death was attributed to the infirmities of old age, although Mr. Dixon had been quite active almost to the end.

Aaron Ernest Dixon was born January 9, 1873, at Woodland, Illinois, the youngest of five boys in the family. He lived there with his family for ten years, after which they moved to Nebraska, settling in Washington county in 1883. This county has been his home since that time - - - a period of seventy-four years.

On June 19, 1907, he was married to Eunice Kehoe, of Omaha and Mr. and Mrs. Dixon observed their golden wedding anniversary in June of 1957.

For sixty years he found success and satisfaction as a farmer and stockman, living on the well known Dixon farm north of Blair all of that time. In 1943 the Dixons moved to Blair where they have since lived in retirement at 610 west Washington street.

During his active years on the farmn, he built up his place to be one of the better equipped farms of the bottom area. He was also active in many community affairs and for years was considered one of the substantial farmers of the bottoms north of Blair.

He is survived by his wife, Eunice; by two daughters, Mrs. Ray Murray (Eleanor) of Hyattsville, Maryland and Mrs. J. P. Nye (Florence) of Sioux City, Iowa; two sons, Elmer E. Dixon and James I. Dixon, both of Blair, and ten grandchildren. James Dixon lives on the home place and Elmer Dixon is on an adjoining farm.

Funeral services were held at the First Methodist church Monday afternoon with the Rev. Melvon Ireland conducting the service. Burial, under the direction of the Campbell Mortuary, was made in theBlair cemetery.

Pallbearers were Jack Newberg, Herman Kuhr, A. R. Beales, Byron Bunn, Ned Tyson and Peter Sorensen.
