RITES FRIDAY FOR AGED MAN

ONE OF DANA’S FIRST GRADS, JENS J. ANDERSON DIED AT AGE OF 76

Ill since Friday when he suffered a severe stroke, Jens Jorgen Anderson died at his home, Tuesday noon. Rites for the 76-year-old native of Denmark, a Blair resident since before the turn of the century, will be held Friday, at 1:30 from the home and at 2 o’clock from First Lutheran Church. The Rev. H.C. Jorgensen will be in charge.

Interment is to take place in Blair cemetery.

Born at Skanderborg, Denmark, on Jan. 14, 1869, Anderson completed his military training and a teachers course in Denmark, coming to America in 1891. He returned to Denmark in1893 for a visit with his parents, shortly prior to their deaths.

Mr. Anderson entered college at Elkhorn, Ia., in 1896, and came here when the college was established at Blair, graduating from Dana in 1900.

On March 18, 1903, he was married to Miss Jennie C. Jacobson of Blair. For five years he was employed by the railroad company, and later the couple lived on a farm until their retirement.

Six children, two of whom died in childhood, were born to the Andersons. Survivors include Mrs. Chris Frahm of Benson; Ray of Blair; Mrs. Leonard Lale of Edlington Field, Tex.; and Viggo of Blair.

Jens Jorgen Anderson, 76 years of age, passed away at his home on Nebraska street Tuesday noon following a stroke which he suffered on the preceding Friday.

Deceased was born in Denmark January 14, 1869. After completing his military training and a teacher’s course in Denmark he came to America in 1891. In 1893 he returned to his native land to visit his parents who died shortly afterward.

On his return to America he entered college at Elkhorn, Iowa and in 1896 he came to Blair and was one of the first graduates of Dana in 1900.

On March 18, 1903 he was married to Miss Jennie C. Jacobson at Blair and the first five years of their married life was spent in Blair where he was in the employ of the railroad. Later they moved to a farm where they lived until five years ago when they sold their farm and moved to Blair.

Six children were born to them: Mrs. Chris Frahm of Benson; Ray of Blair; Mrs. Leonard Law of Ellington Field, Texas; Vigga of Blair and seven grandchildren. Two children died in childhood.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 1:30 p.m. from the home and at 2 p.m. from the First Lutheran church with Rev. H.C. Jorgensen officiating and interment will be made in the Blair cemetery.
