WILLA L. DODSON, 78

Willa L. Dodson, 78, of Lincoln, died Jan. 5, 2001, at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Lincoln.

Services were held Jan. 8 at the Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home with Steven Thompson officiating. interment was in Lincoln Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Willa Hunt Dodson was born Feb. 8, 1923, in Cantrell, Iowa, to William and Rettie Ann Hunt. She graduated from high school at Hale, Mo. On April 5, 1942, she married the Rev. Harold W. Dodson at Hale, Mo.

She served churches with her husband in the Missouri and Wyoming Conferences before coming to Nebraska in 1951. They served at Hay Springs; Meadow Grove/Battle Creek; Exeter/Milligan; Scottsbluff; Atkinson; Franklin; Hershey and Greenwood.

Upon retirement, they lived in Blair and in Lincoln.

Mrs. Dodson served on the Methodist Women’s district committees; was Lay Preacher in the Republican Valley parish; sang in choir; taught Sunday School; and contributed in various ways to the life of the churches where they served. She was also a member of Eastern Star.

She is survived by her husband, Harold; a son, David Dodson of Lincoln; a daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Terry Thompson of Blair; two grandchildren and their spouses; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Lillian Haynes of Columbia, Mo.; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by four sisters and one brother.

The Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home of Lincoln was in charge of arrangements.
