Services were Friday, December 21 at Roeder Mortuary, 2727 N. 108th Street in Omaha for Floyd Chase of Omaha who died about 10 p.m. December 18 at Methodist Hospital in Omaha. Graveside services were in Hopewell Cemetery in Unadilla, Nebraska.

Floyd Chase was born November 29, 1903 at Burr, Nebraska to James S. and Carramitta McGaugh Chase.

He graduated from Adams High School in 1920 and began teaching at rural Otoe County schools. He earned his bachelor’s degree in education from Peru State College in 1928 and a master’s degree from the University of Missouri at Columbia in 1937.

He taught at Nebraska City High School and became superintendent of the Cook, Nebraska school system in 1933. He moved to Omaha in 1936.

He taught industrial arts at North High School for 33 years. In addition to teaching, he sponsored the stage crew and coached tennis until he retired in 1969.

He belonged to Covert Lodge No. 11 AF & AM, Scottish Rite, Tangier Shrine, the North Omaha Kiwanis and Vikings of Distinction. He was also a member of Pearl Memorial United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice C. Chase on June 26, 1978; and his parents.

He is survived by one son, Donald J. Chase, Omaha; a daughter and son-in-law, Lois J. and David J. Carlsen, Blair; and three grandchildren, Janet Carlsen, Phoenix, Arizona; Barbara Carlsen, Omaha; and Douglas Carlsen, Phoenix, Arizona.

Memorials may be made to Pearl Memorial Methodist Church, the Omaha Home for Boys or the American Cancer Society.

Roeder Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
