Bernice M. McMahan, 73, of Fort Calhoun, died May 7, 2007, in Omaha.

A funeral Mass is slated for 10 a.m. Friday, May 11, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Fort Calhoun. Interment will be in the Fort Calhoun Cemetery.

Bernice Mary Moy was born Aug. 11, 1933, in Omaha to Walter and Anna Moy.

On March 2, 1957, she married C.E. McMahan in Council Bluffs, Iowa.

Mrs. McMahan was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.

Her main vocation was that of a housewife and mother, as well as partner in her husband’s discount stores operated in Wahoo, Seward, Fremont and Ashland. Mrs. McMahan enjoyed her time as a volunteer at St. John The Baptist Catholic Church helping with cleaning, funeral lunches and fish frys. Her hobbies included tennis, flower gardening, reading and playing piano.

She will be most remembered for her kind, caring nature, having never spoken a word in anger, for being a great wife and mother, a terrific cook, and for her faith in God.

She is survived by her husband, C. E. McMahan of Fort Calhoun; daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Steve Nelson of Omaha; sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Bonnie McMahan, Patrick and Kris McMahan, and Tim and Teresa McMahan, all of Omaha, Brian and Sue McMahan of Papillion; five grandchildren; sisters, Jenny, Annie, Irene and Betty; brother, Walter; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Jack Moy.

Sievers-Sprick Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation Thurs 3-8 pm, with Vigil Service at 7 pm, at the Funeral Home. Funeral Mass Fri 10 am, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Interment Ft. Calhoun Cemetery.
