John McMahon’s Death. (Should have said James)

On Tuesday, October 25th, at 1-15 p.m., James McMahon, father of the late John McMahon, of this city, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Joseph McGuire, of Benson, at the age of 85 years, 3 months and 23 days.

The funeral was at St. Bernard’s church at 10 o’clock Thursday morning, Father Moriarity officiating. After the services at the church the body was taken to Omaha and brought to Blair on the afternoon train and laid to rest in the Blair cemetery. His grandsons acted as pallbearers.

Mr. McMahon had been making his home at his daughter’s for the past two years and had been in poor health for the past ten years.

He was born in Ireland and came to New York State in 1840 and to Nebraska in 1883, where he has ever since lived. The old gentleman was conscious to the last and suffered little if any pain. His death was caused by lack of vitality caused by old age. Besides the family of Mrs. John McMahon, of this city; he leaves three daughters, Mrs. Joseph McGuire, Mrs. Jas. Maney and Miss Lizzie McMahon, all of Benson.
