Services for Jerry E. McManigal, 66 of Onawa, Iowa who died April 20, 1996 at his home after a short illness of cancer were Tuesday, April 23 at the First Christian Church in Onawa. Rev. Donald R. Ludwick officiated. Burial was in the Onawa Cemetery with military rites by the Monona County Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 2694 of Onawa.
Jerry E. McManigal was born January 27, 1930 in Blair to Jent and Edna Gillette McManigal.
He served with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
He was an electrical lineman most of his life and was most recently employed by Iowa Public Service of Sioux City.
He married Patricia Green in 1953. She died in January, 1969.
He married Rita Kent in July, 1969. She survives.
In addition to his parents and his first wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold and Jenty.
He is survived by his wife, Rita; four daughters, Nancy Pierce of Pender, Nebraska and Kimberly, Angela and Jenny, all of Onawa; six sons, Larry of Walthill, Nebraska; Jerry of Sacramento, California; Tom of Kiron, Iowa and Joe, Les and Jenty “J.J.,” all of Onawa; 25 grandchildren; three great-grandsons and a sister, Grace Earlywine of Omaha.
Pearson Funeral Home in Onawa was in charge of arrangements.
