James D. Pounds

James D. Pounds, 75, died Wednesday, March 15, 2006, at his home in Blair.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 18, at the First United Methodist Church in Blair. His cremains will be buried in the Blair Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 17, at Campbell-Aman Funeral Home.

James D. Pounds was born Jan. 4, 1931, in Washington County to James W. and Thelma (Leonard) Pounds. He graduated from Blair High School in 1948.

On Oct. 28, 1951, he married Ardith Mueller at the First United Methodist Church in Blair.

In February of 1952, he entered the military service during the Korean Conflict. He was discharge in November 1953.

In 1962, Mr. and Mrs. Pounds established Pounds Printing Company, which they still operate. In 1964, Mr. Pounds went to work as a clerk for the U.S. Postal Service, retiring in 1991.

He like antique cars and military vehicles, loved to travel, and made an annual trip to Mazatlan, Mexico.

He was a member of the Blair Fire Department and was a charter member of the Blair Rescue Squad. He was also a member of the Centennial Model T Club, and was a life member of the Blair VFW and American Legion. Mr. Pounds also served on the Blair City Council.

He is survived by his wife, Ardith; sons and daughters-in-law, James M. and Judy Pounds, Jon and Kathy Pounds, Robert Pounds; daughters and sons-in-law, Pat and Rick Wiese, Ann and Tim Miller, all of Blair; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sister and brother-n-law, Sally and Fred Leu of Omaha; mother-in-law, Hilda Mueller of Blair; brothers-in-law and a sister-in-law, Frank Reyzlik of Blair, and Don and Linda Mueller of Yukon, Oka.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a gradson, Michael; and sister, Sue Reyzlik.

Memorials may be directed to the donor’s choice.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
