Clara F. Quist, 104

Clara F. Quist, 104, of Blair, died Thursday, Nov. 17, 2005, at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair.

Funeral services were Monday, Nov. 21, at First Lutheran Church in Blair. Interment was in the Blair Cemetery.

Clara F. Quist was born July 28, 1901, on a homestead near Red Cloud to Guldberg and Dorthea (Jensen) Anderson. She was baptized at St. Stephens Church in Webster County, and moved to Blair with her family when she was only six weeks old.

She attended the Summers School District No. 19.

On June 2, 1920, she married Alfred Quist in Blair. They grew corn and grain on a farm seven miles northwest of Blair. Mrs. Quist lived on the farm until moving to Blair in 1982.

She enjoyed quilting, tatting and crocheting, and especially loved creating warm, colorful afghans. She made more than 100 afghans, giving all of them to her four children, grand-children, and great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Quist was a member of First Lutheran Church in Blair.

She is survived by her daughter, LaVonne Rolland of Blair, sons and daughters-in-law, Darvid and JoAnn Quist of Blair, and Arvin and Joan Quist of Oakridge, Tenn.; daughter-in-law, Joan Quist of Blair; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred; son, Quentin; grandson, Kenneth Rolland; brothers, Hans O. Anderson, Walter E. Anderson; sisters, Johanna Sofia Anderson, Kathryn Anderson Moore, Luella Anderson Mathiesen; daughter-in-law, Doris Ann Quist; and son-in-law, Gustav Rolland.

Memorials are suggested to First Lutheran Church, the ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease) Association, or the charity of your choice.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
