Funeral services were held on Wednesday, May 8, for Mrs. J. P. Quist whose sudden death occurred Sunday evening, May 5 following an attendance at church services. She had apparently been in good health and several of her children had been in to see her during the afternoon.

Bengta Manson was born in Stabbarp, Sweden, December 25, 1856 and was therefore seventy-two years, four months and ten days old at the time of her death.

She was married to Jens Peter Quist in Sweden in 1879 and emigrated to America in 1892 landing in Blair in August of that year.

The family engaged in farming northwest of town for a number of years and later moved to Blair where they have since made their home.

Mr. and Mrs. Quist celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary March 20 of this year, due mention of which was made in the columns of The Enterprise at the time.

The deceased is survived by her husband who is in feeble health; four daughters, Mrs. Hannah Richter, Blair; Mrs. A.C. Soske, Provo, South Dakota; Miss Anna Quist, Blair; Mrs. R L. Karske, Omaha and three sons, Hjalmer, Alfred and Edward, all of this vicinity. One son died in infancy. She also leaves ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She has one brother in Sweden.

Mrs. Quist was a faithful attendant of the Danish Lutheran church of which she was a member. She was a good mother and friend and neighbor and will be greatly missed by her home folks and friends.

The funeral was held from the home and the church with Rev. Nielsen officiating. Burial was made beside the infant son in the local cemetery.

MRS. J.P. QUIST DIES SUDDENLY

Funeral Services Held Wednesday From Danish Lutheran Church

Mrs. J. P. Quist died suddenly early Monday morning at her home on south First street at the age of 72 years. As Bengta Monnson she was born at Stabbarp, Sweden on December 25, 1856, and on the 20th day of March, 1879 she was united in marriage to Jens Peter Quist.

For a number of years the family lived in Sweden and in 1892 they came to America, landing in Blair on the 28th of August that year. Since that time they have been residents of Washington county. Mrs. Quist was a pioneer of Washington county, and held a wide acquaintance of friends who thought very highly of her. She was a very active worker in the Danish Lutheran church. On the 20th of March this year Mr. and Mrs. Quist celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary, at which all of their children were present.

Funeral services were held from the Danish Lutheran church yesterday afternoon, the Rev. Nielsen officiating, after which interment was made in Blair cemetery. Surviving her are her bereaved husband; four daughters, Mrs. Hanna Richter, Mrs. A. C. Saske, Anna Quist and Mrs. R. L. Garske; three sons, Hjalmer, Alfred and Edward Quist; ten grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
