Pfc. Walter G. Robinson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Robinson of Blair, was among Nebraska soldiers, who were recently released from Nazi prison camps inside Germany. Pfc. Robinson, who joined the service on Febr. 17, 1943, spent over five months in a concentration camp after being captured on Nov. 24, 1944.

Pfc. Robinson, who was with an anti-tank company, lost 60 pounds while at the camp. Robinson said that, although the boys had very little meat, the Germans didn’t either, so no one resented the slim diet. They were fed what the prisoners termed “grass soup” which was made of potato peelings.

The prisoners were worked 12 hours a day repairing bombed railroads. Atrocity stories told by American correspondents have not been exaggerated according to Robinson.

After a 60 day furlough, Pfc. Robinson, will report to an army distribution center for either a discharge or reassignment.
