Claude Eugene Compton, the adopted son of Mr. and Mrs. A. P. Compton, died last Wednesday morning following an operation for appendicitis, which was performed Monday by Dr. Allison, of Omaha. It was an acute case and his constitution was too delicate to withstand the shock. The funeral was held at the Methodist Church on Friday, Christmas day, by Rev. J. W. Lewis and interment made in the Blair Cemetery. Mr. and Mrs. Compton took the little fellow when he was but three days old and he seemed like their own child. They have no other children and all their love and hopes were centered around little Claude. His comparatively sudden death was a great blow to the foster parents and they will mourn and miss him for many a day. He was born August 8th, 1903, and was therefore 11 years, 4 months, and 15 days old, being in the 5th grade at school. Two brothers and two sisters were here to attend the funeral, Mrs. Victor Reynoldson, and Wm. and Lillie McNair, of Albion and Guy McNair, of Ft. Calhoun. Other members of the family are Clyde McNair of Sheridan, Wyo., June of Spokane, Wash., Freddie, of Loretto, Neb. and Dale of Bartlett, Neb.
