#1-3 May, 1945 Enterprise D.A. COMPTON RITES TUESDAY

Durant A. Compton, son of D.H. and Martha J. Compton was born on a farm south of Kennard, Washington County, Nebraska, November 30, 1869 and passed away at the Methodist Hospital in Omaha April 28, 1945.

Mr. Compton had been in poor health for some time, and entered the hospital, March 27 where he underwent a major operation two days later. Everything possible was done to aid his recovery and he seemed to be gaining until he suffered a stroke on April 27 and never regained consciousness.

With the exception of nine years which he spent near Cheyenne, Oklahoma when a young man, he has lived in Washington County all his life.

On August 18, 1915, he was married to Miss Theresa Maude Warrick, who is left to mourn her great loss. He was ever a loving and faithful companion, a true and faithful servant of his Lord, a good citizen and neighbor and will be greatly missed from among his host of friends.

Besides his widow he leaves to mourn his loss one sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Johnson, one brother, Berea W. Compton, both of Blair, also three nephews and two nieces.

Funeral was held at Bendorf Funeral Home Tuesday, May 1st. His pastor Rev. J.C. Green of Fremont was aided by Rev. Kennedy and Rev. Lindenmeyer, of Blair. Songs were sung by a quartet, composed of Mrs. Joel Allen, Mrs. Raymond Kuhr, Mr. John Moore and Mr. John Andersen. The large congregation and many beautiful flowers showed the esteem of many friends for Mr. and Mrs. Compton.

D. A. COMPTON DIES AT 77

BLAIR MAN RECOVERING FROM OPERATION WAS STRICKEN FRIDAY

D. A. Compton, 77, died last Saturday at Methodist hospital a day after suffering a paralytic stroke.

The Blair man had been a patient in the Omaha Hospital since late in March when he underwent a major operation. He was believed to be recuperating when stricken by his final illness.

Funeral services, held Tuesday afternoon at Bendorf Funeral Home, were followed by burial in Blair Cemetery. The Rev. J. C. Greeb of Fremont, assisted by the Rev. D.D. Kennedy and the Rv. T. A. Lindenmeyer of Blair conducted services.

Born on a farm south of Kennard, on Nov. 30, 1869, Durant A. Compton was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. D. H. Compton. With the exception of nine years residence near Cheyenne, Okla., his entire life was spent in Washington County.

On August 18, 1915, he was married to Theresa Maud Warrick. Besides the widow, he leaves a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Johnson, and a brother, Berea W. Compton, both of Blair.
