Elorah E. Fletcher, daughter of the late Freeman and Mary Fletcher passed away at the Blair Hospital October 28th, after an illness of several weeks.

She was born in the New England District on July 28th, 1874 and was 87 years of age. In 1888 she was baptized in the New England Baptist Church and was a faithful worker in that church. Later her membership was transferred to the Herman Baptist Church, of which she was still a member.

She attended Teacher’s College in Fremont and was a successful teacher in the Washington county schools for several years, a profession which she enjoyed very much.

She was united in marriage May 25, 1902 to Charles Hovendick. After a number of years living in Washington County, they moved to Burt County in 1912, to the farm where they were still residing at the time of her death.

She is survived by her husband and four sons, Lester of Craig, Chester, Vernon and Howard of Herman; nine grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren. An infant daughter, Vera, a twin to Vernon, preceded her in death. Also surviving are three sisters, Alma and Birdie Fletcher, Mrs. Lillian Loftis, and on brother, Ed. F. Fletcher all of Herman.

Services were held at the Herman Baptist Church, at Herman, On October 30. The Rev. Percy J. Bruns, pastor of the church officiated.

Mr. and Mrs. Kermit Goll sang “Near to the Heart of Gold” and “Nearer My God to Thee” with Mrs. T. R. Swanson as accompanist.

Burial was in the Herman Cemetery. Pallbearers were all grandsons, Donald, Richard, John, and Jack Hovendick.
