#1-Herman Hovendick Buried Friday

Final services For Herman Gottlieb Hovendick, 72, life-long resident of this vicinity, were held at the Herman Baptist Church on Friday afternoon, June 26; burial followed in the Herman Cemetery. The rites were in charge of Rev. A. W. Clarke, Herman Methodist minister.

The eldest son of John and Anna Holtman Hovendick, the deceased was born on a farm near Kennard on March 24, 1869. On October 29, 1889, he married Elta E. Schellenger at the Christian Church of Kennard. For a time following their marriage, the couple lived near Spiker, later moving to the New England neighborhood. Since 1920, they had resided on the farm north of Herman in Burt County where Mrs. Hovendick passed away on Wednesday, June 24. Mr. and Mrs. Hovendick celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary on October 29, 1839.

Survivors left to mourn Mr. Hovendick’s passing include the widow; an adopted son, Paul; two grandchildren, Paul Herman and Betty; three sisters, Mrs. Lucy Hansen and Mrs. John Shiller of Omaha and Mrs. Sylvester Lockman of Los Angeles, California; a brother, Charles of Herman and other relatives and a host of friends.

#2-Hovendick, 73, Succumbs-Rites Friday At Herman For Lifetime Countian, Herman Hovendick

After an illness of two weeks, 73-year old Herman farmer, died early Wednesday at his home north of Herman. Funeral services are to be here Friday at the Herman Baptist Church, the Rev. A. W. Clarke of the Methodist Church in charge, and interment will be in the Herman Cemetery.

Mr. Hovendick, lifetime resident of Washington County, was born near Kennard May 24, 1869.
