John R. Fitch, a resident of Washington County all of his life, died Wednesday, August 22nd at Memorial Community Hospital. He was 69 years of age, having been born in this county October 19, 1903.

John was an auto mechanic by trade and he was well-known to hundreds of local drivers for whom he had worked during his years in the business.

He was married on Christmas Day 1925 to the former Henrietta Rann, known to her friends as “Dutch”, and for many years they have lived at 1231 Grant Street.

He is survived by his wife and by two daughters, Patricia Jeanne Wilcox, of Blair and Joyce Elaine Timm, of Bennington.

A brother Raymond G. Fitch lives at Littleton, Colorado. There are four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services were held Saturday, August 25th at First United Methodist Church in Blair. The Rev. Gordon Patterson conducted the service and burial was made in the Blair Cemetery under the direction of the Campbell Mortuary.

Pallbearers were Jack Chapman, Lloyd Hansen, Lewis Ward, Gordon Mallory, Edward Danner, and Richard Golden.
