Mary E (Cram) Fletcher
Died on 9/23/1889
Buried in New England Cemetery

Died – At New England, Sept. 23, 1880, Mrs. Mary E. wife of F. E. Fletcher, and daughter of James and Loueza Cram, aged 37 years, 6 months and 4 days.

The deceased was born in Meontville, Maine, March 19, 1852. She moved with her parents to Washington County, Neb., in February, 1868. She experienced a change of heart under the preaching of the Rev. E. G. O. Groat of the Baptist Church during the winter of 1859, and was married to F. E. Fletcher Sept. 26, 1870. Was baptized by the Rev. Weimer in April, 1877, and joined the U.B. Church. She united with the New England Baptist Church, of which she has since been a member, on March 3, 1878.

Of her it can truly be said that she lived her religion every day, and her greatest desire seemed to be to please her Master in all things. She leaves a husband and eight children to mourn the loss of an exemplary wife and mother. And, they will feel her loss so much; but let them remember that their loss is her eternal gain.

The funeral services were held at the New England Baptist Church Sept. 24, Rev. J. Patrick officiating, preaching an excellent discourse from II Tim 4:6-7-8, after which her remains were followed to their last resting place by a large concourse of sorrowing friends and relatives.

The COURIER sympathizes with the bereaved husband and motherless children. It is hard to lose a brother, sister, and a kind and loving father, but the hardest of all comes when the last lingering caress is impressed on the lips of a dear mother as she closes her eyes in that sweet and peaceful sleep the awakening of which is eternal glory. No friend is dearer than mother. May the children of this one heed the gentle teachings and examples, and like her live a life that will bring all that is promised in that divine book, the Holy Bible.
