Funeral services for Charles Brodersen, 70, were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Legion Hall in Herman.

Brodersen died Saturday morning of a heart attack at his farm home near Herman.

In 1972, Brodersen ran unsuccessfully for the Legislature from the 16th District following the death of Sen. Claire Holmquist of Oakland.

Brodersen was chairman of the Nebraska State Agriculture Stabilization Committee for seven years.

He served in the Army in Europe during World War II and was a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a corn and bean farmer, a hog raiser and cattle feeder before his retirement in 1983.

Burial was at Herman Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Marian; sons, John of Herman and James of Omaha; brothers Riley of Herman and Robert of Tekamah; sister, May Van Valin of Wakefield; and granddaughters, nieces and nephews.
