Richard Flynn, 85

Services for Richard Flynn, 85 of Blair who died January 28, 1995, at Immanuel Medical Center in Omaha will be 10:30 a.. Friday, February 3 at First United Methodist Church in Blair with burial in the Blair Cemetery.

Richard Harris Flynn was born March 1, 1909, at Ord, Nebraska, to Richard Patrick and Ruth Harris Flynn. He attended school in Ord, graduating from Ord High School in 1926.

He received his Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees in agricultural economics from the University of Nebraska. He also pursued additional studies at the University of Illinois in Urbana, Illinois.

He married Esther Hughes in Blair in 1933 and they lived for several years in Fairbury where he was an ice cream maker for Robinson Dairy.

He was a professional farm manager and moved to Norfolk, Nebraska, in 1941 where he worked for First Trust of Lincoln and later Farmers National Company. He transferred to Fremont in 1959 and retired from Farmers National Company in 1974. He moved to Blair in 1984.

He served as president of the American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers in 1951, was a member of Alpha Zeta, Alpha Gamma Rho, was past president of Toastmasters and was a member of the United Methodist Church and the Masonic Lodge.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Esther and two brothers, Robert and Philip.

He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Katharine and Edmond Yee of El Cerrito, California, and Janet and James Zabel of Chicago, Illinois; five grandsons, Peter Yee, Timothy Yee, Thomas Zabel, John Zabel and Michael Zabel; two great-grandsons, Andrew Yee and James Yee; three brothers, Thomas Flynn, Adrian Flynn and Eugene Flynn, all of Blair and three sisters, Ruth (Mrs. R. J.) Lippincott, Blair; Margaret Phillips, Bastrop, Texas and Isabel (Mrs. Eli) Shapnek, Scotia, New York.

Memorials may be directed to the United Methodist Church in Blair.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
