BRODERSEN, WELL KNOWN FARMER, DEAD

Native OF County, Chairman Of Farmers Union First AAA Chairman

DELEGATE TO WASHINGTON IN 1935

James Christian Brodersen of Herman died Sunday, July 22nd of a heart attack, following an illness of several months.

Deceased was born on the home farm west of Herman on November 1, 1875, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Rasmus Brodersen. He was married to Miss Stella Ebbison of Maine, and to them one child was born. After the death of the first wife, he was married to Miss Sadie Cameron, daughter of the late Cara Cameron, the marriage taking place December 13, 1911. To this marriage four sons were born: Riley and Malcolm of Herman; Lt. Charles Brodersen in Germany, and Robert, who is in Kansas City or Fort Leavenworth awaiting his discharge from the army.

In his younger years Mr. Brodersen traveled quite extensively and spent nearly a year in Payette, Idaho. His life work was farming and he was interested in anything that would benefit the farmer. He was civic minded and spent several years as director of his school and when the AAA was formed, it was he who, as its chairman for the first six years, guided its destiny.

Ten years ago he went to Washington, D.C. to plead the farmer’s cause. In all these activities his sincerity and his genial manner drew to him many warm friends and he will be missed greatly. His judgment was good and his counsel sought on many subjects of importance.

He was a member of the Methodist Church and of the Masonic Lodge, and he was at all times an example of manhood well worthy of emulation.

Funeral services were held yesterday (Wednesday) afternoon in the Methodist church in Herman, and interment was made in the New England Cemetery.
