BOY, 3, FATALLY BURNED WED. IN EXPLOSION

Rollin Robinson Pours Fluid Into Kitchen Stove at Home

DIED EARLY TODAY

Rollin Robinson, three year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Robinson, was fatally burned Wednesday morning at the home of his parents when, during temporary absence of his mother, he secured a small can of gasoline and tossed it into the kitchen stove.

Recounting the mishap, Mrs. Robinson says she had been out of the residence only a short time while she pumped water for a cow, and that she had told the boy to stand at the kitchen window in order that she could see him as she did the work in the yard.

Completing her task, she was returning to the house when she heard the puff of the explosion and saw smoke pouring from the kitchen. Meanwhile, the little boy terrorized, ran around the exterior of the house in the opposite direction from his mother.

A neighbor woman, Mrs. Dora Smith, witnessed the accident and finally succeeding in catching the tot and pulling the clothes from him. He was then taken to Court View hospital here where he was found suffering from third degree burns.

Late Wednesday it became apparent that the little boy could not live, and from that time forward, until his death early this Thursday morning, his life was despaired of. It is believed that in his wild dash around the house to escape the flames, the boy inhaled some of them, although his injuries appeared to be centered about his hips and legs.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Bendorf Funeral Home on West Grant street. Burial will be in the Blair cemetery.
