JAMES REID FUNERAL RITES MONDAY

James Reid, known to most of us as “Uncle Jimmy”, died last Saturday in the Blair Hospital where he had been a patient for some time.

He was born in Scotland August 23, 1861; thus, had he lived until next August, he would have reached his 84th birthday. He was educated in Scotland, and came to this country about fifty five years ago. He was first employed in Omaha, but later came to Blair where he acted as rural mail carrier for a number of years, retiring on pension.

He never married and made his home with his brother, the late John Reid, and after his death continued to make his home with the family.

The funeral services were held last Monday afternoon from the Bendorf Funeral Home with Rev. Watson F. Lewis of the local Congregational church officiating, and interment was made in the Blair cemetery.

James Reid was a quiet, unassuming person with a host of friends who admired his quiet manner. He was a man of good habits, strictly honest and an example for young and old.

Besides his sister-in-law, Mrs. John Reid, he is survived a brother and several nieces and nephews in Scotland. He also has a grandniece living in Michigan, the daughter of the late Commander Raymond Reid.
