MRS. JOHN M. COMPTON DIES MAY 15TH

Old Settler and Descendent of Pioneer Family, Native Of County

Mrs. John M. Compton, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Warrick, was born on the old homestead northwest of Blair on August 25, 1879. Here she grew to womanhood and was educated in the district school of her neighborhood. She died May 15, 1948 at the age of 68 years, 8 months and 20 days.

Deceased came from a family of pioneers who were honest Christian people, and Mrs. Compton emulated their example and her life was one of sacrifice for those she held dear.

On February 22, 1899 she was united in marriage to John M. Compton, and to them four children were born, twin boys and two girls.

Of a family of nine brothers and sisters she is survived by only two sisters: Mrs. Esther Overmeyer of Boise, Idaho and Mrs. Elizabeth Barry of Lincoln, Nebr. Of her immediate family, she leaves the grief-stricken husband and two sons, Clifford of Fairbanks Alaska; Gilford of Boise, Idaho; and Mrs. Roland Wilkins of Blair and seven grandchildren, besides a host of friends of a lifetime.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 18th, at 2:30 p.m. from the Methodist church with Rev. Sidney L. McCaig delivering the funeral address, and interment under the supervision of the Fick Funeral Home was made in the Blair cemetery.
