#1-23 Sept., 1903 - The Pilot - H. V. Hanson

The sudden death of H. V. Hanson of Admah which occurred last Saturday was a shock to his many friends. He was in the field at work when he was stricken with apoplexy from the effects of which he died before his family found him. He was born in Sweden sixty four years ago and came to America in 1865 and to Washington county in 1869 where he homesteaded the farm on which he has since lived. He leaves to mourn his loss five children, two boys and three girls, who in their sad bereavement have the sympathy of many friends and neighbors. The funeral was held at Admah Monday, and the remains laid to rest in the Admah cemetery by the side of his wife who died about ten years ago. #2-24 Sept, 1903 - Blair Republican - H. V. Hanson

SUDDEN DEATH OF A LEADING CITIZEN OF SHERIDAN TP.

Last Saturday Mr. H. V. Hanson, one of the oldest residents of the Admah neighborhood, while engaged in mowing in the field, was stricken with heart failure, and death soon ensured. He leaves a second wife and two sons, Edwin, now principal of the Craig schools, and Emanuel who is city salesman for the Cudahy Company of Omaha, also three married daughters, Mrs. Olivia Wilson and Mrs. Olga Sampson, both of Omaha, and Mrs. Melia C. Johnson of Argo. One son, it will be remembered, was killed in the Philippines while defending the flag. A sister, Mrs. G. Pegau, resides in Omaha.

Deceased was about 63 years of age and leaves a large estate, consisting in part of 700 acres of improved lands in this county. He was one of the first settlers of Sheridan Tp., and served for many years as a school officer and town assessor. The writer knew the deceased thirty odd years ago, and he has been a subscriber of the Blair Republican for 23 years. His sudden demise leaves a large void in the community where he has been so long a promoter of progress and good morals.
