MRS. J. S. ROBERTS DIED JULY 6TH

Native of Virginia. Blair Resident Since 1883.

Mrs. J. S. Roberts, who has been in failing health since falling and breaking her hip nearly a year ago, died shortly before noon on Thursday, July 6th, at the Methodist hospital in Omaha.

She had nearly recovered from the broken hip when another fall broke a leg. From the two accidents she was unable to recover. At her death she was 85 years of age.

Deceased was born in Virginia in August of 1864. She came to Blair in 1883 and a month later was married to J. S. Roberts who came at the same time from Virginia. They at once became a part of the growing town and Mr. Roberts, who died in 1938, took an active part in the civic interests of the city, serving as light commissioner, councilman and mayor.

Surviving Mrs. Roberts are two sons, Howard of Roseburg, Oregon and C. W. Roberts of St. Paul, Minn., and two daughters, Mrs. E. M. Beaty of Miss Beulah Roberts, both of Blair and six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She also leaves two brothers, C. D. Epling of Lewiston, Idaho and E. T. Epling of Casper, Wyoming and a sister, Mrs. C. W. Weaver of Fergus Falls, Minnesota.

Funeral services were held Saturday at 3:30 p.m. at the Bendorf Funeral Home with Reverend H. Ford of the local Baptist church officiating, and interment was made in Blair cemetery.
