#1-28 June, 1905 - The Pilot - Charles Brodersen (in this obituary his last name is spelled “Broderson” - that is incorrect)

The many friends of Chas. Brodersen were shocked Monday when a telegram was received announcing his death at Vancouver, British Columbia. Mr. Brodersen was about 25 years of age and had spent the past two years in the Dakotas and Alberta, Canada. About three weeks ago he went to the coast where from some cause unknown to his friends here, he met death in a manner that left the body badly mutilated, his identity being found from letters on his person. The remains are expected to arrive here about Thursday, but at this writing no time is set for the funeral. Mr. Brodersen carried $6,000 life insurance in the Bankers Life, and W.O.W. and A.O.U.W. lodges. The Workmen will take charge of the funeral services of their deceased brother who in his short life had been an exemplary young man. The sympathy of the entire neighborhood goes out to the family who are left to mourn the untimely taking of a son and brother.

#2-28 June, 1905 - Blair Courier - Charles Brodersen

Harry Platz phoned us yesterday afternoon that a telegram had just been received by Mrs. R. Brodersen from Vancouver, B.C., saying that her son, Charles, was instantly killed at 7:30 last Sunday morning by a railroad train. The exact manner in which he met his death was not stated, but the telegram did state that the body was scarcely recognizable, so it must have been in some violent manner. The body will arrive at Herman at 10:13 next Saturday morning and Mr. Platz said the funeral would probably be held at the Brodersen farm in Grant township in the afternoon. We received a note from Mr. Brodersen only last Wednesday, ordering his paper changed from Golden to Vancouver, British Columbia, as he was working at the latter place now. He went up there about two years ago and was working with a railroad bridge gang the last we heard.
