OBITUARY

G. A. Compton, the deceased, was born August 21, 1807, in Sommerset County, N. J., and died at the home of his son, D, H. Compton, in Blair, Nebr., July 3, 1896, aged 88 years, 10 months and 12 days.

He was converted at the age of seventeen years, and lived a devoted, consistent Christian member of the Baptist church for more than seventy years. He was married to Elizabeth Ayers, in Plainfield, N. J., and they lived and walked together for more than half a century, having the great joy of seeing their golden wedding. He survives her by ten years.

He emigrated to Illinois in 1847, residing the greater part of the time in Sangamon county until he moved to Nebraska in 1869, when he located in Washington county. He was a member of the Baptist church of Blair for many years having recently moved his membership to Calvary Baptist church, Omaha, of which he was a member when he died. He leaves six children (four sons and two daughters) and one brother to mourn his departure.

The funeral services were conducted at the Baptist church Sunday morning by Rev. Green, the pastor.
