Quentin Q. Quist, 74

Quentin Q. Quist, 74, of Blair, died Thursday, Sept. 4, 2003, at Immanuel Medical Center in Omaha.

Funeral services were Monday, Sept. 8, at First Lutheran Church in Blair. Interment was in the Blair Cemetery.

Quentin Q. Quist was born Nov. 2, 1928, in Blair to Alfred and Clara (Anderson) Quist. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He was a 1945 graduate of Blair High School.

He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict, from March 1951 until December 1952, and was awarded the Korean service medal with three bronze service stars and the UN Service medal.

On July 4, 1951, he married Joan Rathman at the First Baptist Church in Blair.

Mr. Quist farmed his entire life in the Washington County area. He served on the Washington County Board of Supervisors from 1984 until 1996. He also served on the Board of Directors for Washington County Mutual Insurance Company, and was a member of the Blair V.F.W., Blair American Legion, Washington County Livestock Feeders Association, and served on the school board for Summers School.

He enjoyed attending many sporting events, especially those of his children and grandchildren. He was a great storyteller, loved playing cards, especially pitch and gin rummy, and enjoyed several fishing trips to Canada.

He is survived by his wife, Joan, of Blair; mother, Clara Quist of Blair; son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Jan Quist of Blair; daughters and sons-in-law, Shelly and Jim Mintken of Blair, and Susan and Kerry Kendall of Omaha; three grandchildren; sister, Lavonne Rolland of Blair; brothers and sisters-in-law, Arvin and Joan Quist of Oak Ridge, Tenn., and Darvid and JoAnn Quist of Blair.

He was preceded in death by his father, Alfred.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
