Gavin Austin James Fischer, age 25 of Fremont, formerly of Blair, entered the loving arms of our Lord and Savior, surrounded by his loving family and friends, on April 4, 2026, in Omaha, Nebraska, after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born May 19, 2000, the son of Dylan Fisher and Heather James. Gavin grew up in Blair and attended Blair Community Schools, graduating in 2018. He was a social butterfly or maybe social bee and always seemed to be in trouble for something or another at school. He created a close relationship with Mr. Mark Gutschow and looked to him as a role model. While Gavin was ornery, he was known by his friends as someone who was always there and could be counted on. Gavin was active with his friends as a Boy Scout in his younger years and in athletics, excelling in Track and Football in high school, as well as weightlifting, earning school honors. Following high school, Gavin went on to study at Milford, learning about diesel machinery and electrical while also meeting new friends and making connections before entering the workforce. Spending time outdoors was a huge part of Gavin's life. He enjoyed fishing, camping, hiking and trips to the mountains.
Above all, Gavin was a family man. He was a wonderful son and big brother. Gavin loved his 'brother-time' and 'grandma-time' to give his full attention to those he loved and create lasting memories, whether that be doing things outdoors or staying up late playing games. Gavin was a warrior. He battled through hardships in his life and overcame his struggles one at a time putting in the hard work to be a better man. He is someone that his family is proud of and will always remember for his warrior attitude. Gavin was a true "God story", fighting through treatments and defying odds to his last day.
Gavin leaves his parents: Dylan (Patti) Fischer and Heather James (T.J.) Batman; siblings: Dawson Fischer, Justin Warnaca, Alicia Fischer, Kenzie batman and Brayden Batman; grandparents: Mark and Connie Fischer, Jim (Velma) James and Lorri (John) Timm; as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and countless friends.
Gavin was greeted in heaven by loved family and friends that have gone before him and will be sorely missed here on earth, until we meet again.
Memorials may be directed to Gavin's Cancer Fund at Omaha Federal Credit Union or to the family for later designation.
In Loving Memory of Gavin Austin James Fischer
