Lucretia Williamson

Mrs. Lucretia Williamson was born in Monroe County, Ohio on March 9, 1848 and passed away at her home near here Monday, April 9, 1928 aged eighty years and one month. She was united in marriage to Harvey Williamson March, 16, 1869 and they moved near Herman in the year 1882. Retiring from the farm a number of years ago they purchased a home and small acreage in the south part of town to spend their declining years. Mr. Williamson died in 1922 and with her daughter, Miss Florence, Mrs. Williamson lived in the home here until two years ago when they sold the home and have lived on the farm with her son, Holly where she passed away. In her girlhood she united with the Methodist Church and has lived a faithful Christian life. She was possessed of a sweet, cheerful disposition and radiated an influence for good. She was numbered among the pioneers of this section and was known to those who knew her as a loving and devoted wife and mother, a good neighbor and a faithful friend. Surviving are five children, Mrs. Lee Fowle of Fremont, H. O. Williamson of Herman, Mrs. Maggie Krogh, and Mrs. Lydia Gossard of Blair and Miss Florence Williamson of Herman. Funeral services were held Wednesday at 2 o’clock at the M. E. Church conducted by Rev. C. C. Norlin with burial in the Herman Cemetery by her husband.

Pioneer Lady Dies

Mrs. Lucretia Williamson died at the home of her son, H. O. Williamson, near Herman, Monday April 9th, 1928, of carcinoma of the liver. She was 80 years and one month of age at the time of her death. Funeral services were held at the Methodist church Wednesday afternoon, Rev. C. C. Norlin, the pastor, delivering a very impressive address. Music was furnished by a quartet consisting of Mrs. George Lowe, Miss Mildred Swanson, Fred Robertson and John H. Johnson. Interment was at the Herman cemetery.

Lucretia Lisk was born in Monroe county, Ohio, March 9, 1848. She was married March 16, 1869, to Harvey Williamson. They came with their children to Washington county, Nebraska, in 1882, locating near Herman. They experienced the hardships and privations of those pioneer days, meeting them all with the bravery and devotion that marked the character of the early settlers.

Mr. Williamson passed away in 1922. Five children are left to mourn the loss of their parents, Mrs. Lee Fowler of Fremont, Neb.; H. O. Williamson and Miss Williamson, both of Herman; Mrs. F. I. Krogh and Mrs. T. B. Gossard, both of Blair.

Mrs. Williamson joined the Methodist church at the age of 16 years and through her life she practiced the principals of her Christ. Through the months of suffering that preceded her death she portrayed the Christian patience, never complaining but always thoughtful of those who lovingly cared for her. To know her was to love and revere her.
