Esther L. Fischer, 78, of Creighton, died Aug. 20, 2010, at Faith Regional Health Services.

Services were Wednesday, Aug. 25, at Zion Lutheran Church in Creighton. Interment was in the Blair Cemetery.

Esther Leona Hansen was born March 22, 1932, in Blair to Axel and Emma (Hansen) Hansen. She attended Blair High School and Dana College.

On July 25, 1957, she married Benjamin E. Fischer in Blair. The couple had three children and made their home in Blair until 1962, when they moved to Creighton.

Mrs. Fischer taught school in Washington County before moving to Creighton. She then worked at Creighton Elementary School.

She enjoyed camping and meeting people. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church.

She is survived by her husband, Ben; son, Curt, of Weatherford, Texas; daughters, Joyce of Albuquerque, N.M., and Gail of Rowlett, Texas; daughter-in-law, Lucy; two grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; sisters, Marie Novak and Lorraine Mencke, both of Blair and Lila Gosker of Arlington; several nieces and nephews.

Brockhaus Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Former Blair resident Esther L. Fischer, 78, of Creighton, died Friday, Aug. 20, 2010, at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 25, at Zion Lutheran Church in Creighton. Interment will be in the Blair Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 24, at Brockhaus Funeral Home in Creighton.
