MRS. CLAUDE REID DIES MONDAY

PASSED AWAY IN BLAIR ON MONDAY; BURIAL TO BE AT HERMAN

Gertrude Lydic Reid was born Dec. 1, 1892, at Odin, Illinois, and passed away in Blair, July 16, 1945. She was united in marriage on November 25, 1891 to Claude Reid and to this union were born six children, all living.

Her husband, who was one of the pioneer mail carriers of Washington County, preceded her in death two years ago.

Survivors are her children, Earl, George and Mrs. Alice Long of Herman; Gerald and Mrs. Marian Sherwood of Omaha; and Byron, who is in the service of his country in the Philippine Islands; four sisters and four grandchildren.

Services will be held in Herman this Thursday. The Rev. A.W. Clarke will officiate and burial will be made at the Herman Cemetery.

Gertrude Lydick Reid was born December 1, 1872 at Odin, Illinois, and died in Blair, Nebraska on July 16th, 1945. She was 72 years, 7 months and 15 days old at the time of her death.

On November 25, 1891 she was united in marriage to Claude Reid of Fremont, Nebraska, and to this union were born six children, all of whom survive. They are Earl, Mrs. Alice Long and George all of Herman, Gerald of Omaha, Byron in the Armed Forces of the U.S.A. in the Philippines and Mrs. Marion Sherwood of Omaha, Nebraska. Mr. Reid passed away two years ago. He was one of the pioneer mail carriers of Washington.

Mrs. Reid had resided in Herman since 1900. She was a loyal member of the Herman Baptist church and a faithful member of the Baptist Guild. She was also a member of the Woodman Circle of Tekamah and a member of the Herman Legion Auxiliary.

Deceased is survived, besides the children named above, by four sisters, Mrs. Alice Coon of Wichita, Kansas; Mrs. Florence Gossard of Bloomfield, Nebraska; Mrs. Nettie Anderson of Lexington, Nebraska; and Mrs. Minnie Ackerman of Omaha, Nebraska; and four grandchildren. One brother died in 1940.

Mrs. Reid spent her life in the Herman community, and was highly respected by all who knew her. A faithful and sincere Christian mother, she will be missed, not only by her own family, but by a wide circle of friends and neighbors.

Funeral services are being held this Thursday afternoon with Rev. A. W. Clark officiating, and interment will be made in the Herman cemetery.
