Mrs. Marrilla Jane Robinson, 69, native and lifetime Washington countian and for 15 years a business woman in Blair, died at 6 a.m. today at her home, Walker avenue and Lincoln street. She had been critically ill since Sunday.

Mrs. Robinson, with her son, Clifton “Mudge” owned the Robinson Café and the Home Theatre. The businesses were located in the Home Theater building, which they built in 1925.

The Campbell Mortuary announced this noon that funeral services will be held at 2 p. m. Saturday at First Methodist Church the Rev. Ralph P. Rasmussen officiating. Internment will be in Blair Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Martin Bertelsen, Karl Christensen, Dr. W. F. Hemphill, Alfred O. Sick, Harry L. Morris and Hugh Cooke.

Marrilla Jane Newkirk, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clifton Newkirk, was born west of Blair, April 25, 1871. She was married in Omaha, August 13, 1894 to Charles J. Robinson. Following their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Robinson lived variously at Vacoma, Arlington and near Blair while Mr. Robinson engaged in both merchandising and farming. Thirty-five years ago they moved into Blair, their home since living first on east Colfax Street, then moving to the present home.

Surviving Mrs. Robinson are her husband, C. J.; three sons, R. H. “Hi” and Clifton N. “Mudge” , both of Blair, Edward “Base” Robinson of Omaha; one sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Pruner of Omaha; four brothers, A. H. Newkirk and Ed Newkirk of Wagner, South Dakota, and Verne Newkirk of Minneapolis. There are seven grandchildren.

Preceding Mrs. Robinson in death were a sister, Miss Clydie Newkirk, and a brother, Marshall “Mack” Newkirk.

BUSINESS WOMAN DIES OF STROKE

Mrs. C. J. Robinson Resident Of Blair For Thirty Five Years

Mrs. C. J. Robinson, well known in Blair business circles, died this Thursday morning at 6:30 o’clock as the result of a stroke from which she had suffered since Monday.

As Marrilla Jane Newkirk she was born April 28, 1871. Her parents were farmers residing west of Blair, and here she grew to womanhood, receiving her education in the rural schools.

On August 13, 1894 she was married to C. J. Robinson, and they resided at Spiker, Vacoma, and other places in the county. About thirty five years ago they moved to Blair where they entered business, first in the grocery business and later in the moving picture and restaurant, with which in company with her son, Clifton N., she was identified at her death.

To Mr. and Mrs. Robinson three sons were born, R. H. and C. N. of Blair and Edward J. of Omaha, all of whom with the husband grieve deeply their great loss.

Besides the members of the immediate family she leaves one sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Pruner of Omaha and four brothers, A. B. and E. V. Newkirk of Blair; Henry of Wagner, South Dakota and Verne of Minneapolis, Minnesota.

In her death Blair loses a woman of remarkable ability, filling a place where she will be greatly missed. Her generous nature in feeding the hungry by forming bread lines in times of stress and other deeds of kindness will make her long remembered in Blair.

Funeral services will be held at the Methodist church on Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock with Rev. R. P. Rasmussen officiating, and interment will be made in the Blair cemetery.
